Four years ago, we launched an experiment offering Buckets licenses worldwide at a cost of about 20 loaves of bread in the country where you live. From the small initial group of countries, it’s grown to be available in over 70 countries. Buckets is now all over the world! And starting today, the process for buying a “by the loaf” license is much simpler.

We started Buckets by the Loaf by hand. To verify that you lived in the country, we would send out postcards with voucher codes, hand-addressed and hand-written. It was a pleasure to do! It is so satisfying to provide something as useful as Buckets to everyone and to provide it at a fair price, too.

But the volume got to be too much, so we found a service that would print and mail the postcards for us. This prevented delays in sending the postcards, but sometimes (often) postcards would never arrive and we’d have to resort to other means to verify addresses. The whole process took a long time.

Immediate validation

Starting today, we now verify your address instantly by validating the issuing country of your credit card. You’ll now get the license immediately via email just like the full-price licenses.
